Services I ProvideMost of what I do falls into two categories:(1) Counseling and CoachingMuch of what I do as a psychologist involves counseling with individuals and couples. "Psychotherapy" we might call it, though that sounds too scary for some people. Mostly I "coach" normal people who are having some kind of problem or challenge in their life for which it's beneficial to have a coach. They don't have a psychiatric condition or serious mental health problem. Just a little struggle, a conflict, a little depression or anxiety... or a problem communicating with a loved one. I see adolescents and families as well. I do a lot of marital or relationship counseling where I see both members of a couple together to address problems they are having getting along. As you can imagine, communication is always a major issue! I charge $110.00 per 45-50 minute "hour" which is fairly typical for psychologists in this area. If you have health insurance it may cover a portion of this hourly fee. (2) Evaluations and Testing I also do a lot of evaluations. This involves assessment interviews, psychological testing, and diagnostic mental status exams. Usually the referral comes from Social Security (Disability Determinations), a local employer, a physician or medical clinic, and occasionally from the individual himself or herself. The latter is rare. Most examinations are requested by a medical or legal source, or an employer. |
